A scouring evaluation was done in order to address the stability of the gravel bed and evaluate the need of scouring protection strategies. Orbital velocities at the bedding layer were measured and the behaviour of the system is monitored by waterproof HD cameras, providing information about the initial/final state as well as the movements observed during the experiments.
Two different strategies have been tested: full scouring protection (stuffing stones, quarry stones and mattresses) and no scouring protection at all (in this case, with two different angles of wave incidence).
